NAMIBIA

PLAINS GAME
Hunting Area: Etosha Conservancy / Hillendale
The 1,000,000 acre hunting area is approximately 60 miles south of the famous Etosha National Park.  The vegetation is mostly grass and bush.  The lodge at Hillendale is very comfortable and is accompanied by individual chalets with in-suite bathrooms, dining and fire-pit areas, and a swimming pool.  The hunt is done by stalking after accessing an area by truck.  Unique to Namibia are the hunts for Hartmann’s Mountain Zebra, Damara Dik-Dik, and Namibian Oryx (a separate SCI species).

We put together some of Namibia’s most interesting species for the following packages (Feb-March 2007 and Oct.-Nov. 20):

PACKAGE 1 includes 1 Southern Impala or Springbok (your choice), 1 Namibian Oryx, 1 Southern Greater Kudu, and 1 Burchell’s Zebra or Hartmann’s Mountain Zebra (your choice).

PACKAGE 2 includes 1 Southern Impala or Springbok (your choice), 1 Namibian Oryx, 1 Blue or Black Wildebeest (your choice), and 1 Eland or Waterbuck (your choice).

LEOPARD
Hunting Area: Etosha Conservancy / Hillendale
Another very interesting hunt is Leopard. To maintain the high percentage of success on Leopards, the outfitter prepares many baits in different areas  before the hunter arrives. If a Leopard is eating, the locals will call and you can set up a blind and hunt the Leopard. You will be assigned an English-speaking professional hunter.  On a day off or after your safari, your PH can drive you to and around Etosha National Park and/or other tourist attractions if you would like.
